Tutorial: Setting Up IDE in Unity

Unity appears to work well with Visual Studio Community 2022. If you find that you are running into any issues with your IDE or you do not know what editor to use, give VS22 a shot to see if it helps.

1. Download and Install the IDE
2. During installation, select the Unity extensions under "Gaming"
3. Open a version of the game in Unity
4. Open the "Edit" menu and open "Preferences"
5. Select "External Tools" from the left column
6. Change the "External Script Editor" to either Visual Studio Community 2022 or whichever code editor you would like to use
7. Try opening a script. If it works, then you are done! (sometimes, you have to "open" the script twice during the first boot-up of the editor)
